Bathroom design involves many components, and it’s easy for the sink to get overlooked. But choosing the right sink can play a huge role in the functionality and aesthetics of your remodeled space.
One option you can consider is a wall-hung sink, which is attached directly to the wall and doesn’t have any support from the floor. These sinks tend to be compact and fit well in bathrooms that don’t have space for a large vanity.
In this post, I’ll describe the benefits of wall-mount sinks and show some different approaches to incorporating them into the design of a new bathroom. I hope that these examples provide inspiration to help you find the perfect sink for your bathroom remodel.
Benefits of Wall-Mount Sinks
Wall-mount sinks offer a number of advantages.
- Compact design: Because they don’t require a pedestal or vanity for support, these sinks take up less space. As a result, they are often a top choice for smaller spaces, including powder rooms.
- Design choices: Wall-mount sinks are available in a wide range of shapes, including oval, rectanglular, square, round, and specialty options. Wall-mount sinks can also be made from a few different materials, including cast iron, porcelain, vitreous china, ceramic, stone, marble, and even stainless steel. For even more design options, wall-mount sinks can be customized with a variety of finishes, including classic colors like biscuit, white, black, and gray, as well as vibrant options like pink, green, red, teal, and yellow. Taken together, wall-mount sinks can fit into various bathroom designs, from modern to traditional to rustic.
- Height versatility: Wall-mount sinks can be installed at different heights, making them accessible for virtually everyone. A recommended installation height for wall-hung sinks for adults is between 32 and 34 inches from the floor. However, proper installation is important. Wall-hung sinks must be anchored to solid wood blocking or wall studs to support their weight securely.
- Maintenance: Most wall-mount sinks are designed to resist stains, scratches, and fading, ensuring durability. Wall-mount sinks are also easy to clean around and underneath.
#1: A Corner Wall-Mount Sink with Storage

This photo from our design center actually shows two styles of wall-mount sinks, but for now, we’ll focus on the corner-mounted option. This style of installation is ideal for making the most of a small bathroom space without sacrificing functionality.
In this design, the sink is part of a wall-mounted vanity, providing additional storage, and all the plumbing fixtures are concealed. You can choose the style of the other features, like the light fixtures, countertop material, and cabinet color, to suit your personal design preferences.
#2 The Classic Space Saver

This wall-hung sink is a simple classic, a workhorse for small bathrooms like this one. The sink itself is small and compact, and the wall-mounted design means no pedestal or vanity is taking up additional floor space.
We designed this hall bathroom with a more minimalist approach, opting for brushed nickel finishes and long, vertical wall sconces with warm-toned light.
#3 Floating Vanity and Bathroom Sink

Another sample from our design center, this sink is part of a floating vanity. This full wall-mounted unit is an example of how you can incorporate a wall-hung sink into a larger bathroom, such as a primary bath. Here, the basin sits on the countertop, while the faucet itself extends directly from the wall.
Ample drawers provide plenty of storage for a regularly used bathroom, and the floating design promotes a more open and airy feel along with a modern aesthetic.
#4 The Inset Sink

In this design, the sink fits into the countertop, providing a sleeker, more compact look than a vessel sink. As an added benefit, this approach provides more counter space than you get with a classic wall-hung sink, giving you a place to put soap, hand towels, and even decorative plants or other items.
#5 The Wafer-Thin Sink

For those who are drawn to the sleek and minimal, this wafer-thin sink is an apt choice. In this design, the sink is set into a corner for further space efficiency.
The thickness of the sink resembles that of a shelf, providing a sense of levels, layering, and parallelism with the floating shelves mounted nearby on the same wall.
#6 An Elegant Marbled Stone Sink

If you’re trying to find a unique style for your bathroom, this type of marbled stone can really make a statement. The basin is mounted directly to the wall and features separate fixtures that are also mounted directly to the wall. The gold fixtures provide a pop of color relative to the natural look of the stone, giving this bathroom a sense of distinction and elegance.
